Hillside Bungalow, Honeydon, Bedfordshire
MT Architecture Ltd was initially appointed to provide some concept ideas for multiple extensions and alterations to the existing bungalow at Hillside Honeydon, however, the results of the feasibility study, confirmed that a replacement dwelling would achieve improved success linked to the initial client brief.
The replacement dwelling design enabled MT Architecture Ltd to design a large family home that achieved all the clients key drivers for the project; Larger open plan Kitchen benefitting from views East – South across the neighbouring fields, Lounge complete with Wood burner and Bi Fold Doors connecting to the garden. Larger Master Bedroom with visual links to the rear garden, and 2no double Bedrooms with En – Suite facilities.
Visually, the fully hipped roof was maintained from the previous dwellings form, with rooms within the roof enabling the ridge height of the property to remain fairly modest. The frontage of the property achieved a symmetrical form, with 2no projecting bays (complete with hipped roofs) that again wee similar to the style of the previous dwelling.
The selection of external materials were key to providing an enriched aesthetic, with the use of Monocouche render, red (multi stock) facing brickwork and light mortar complete with a stunning plain roof tile.
It’s fair to say everyone is extremely delighted with the end result!
